Community Kickoff Event

The Southwest Santa Rosa Extreme Heat Project had a kickoff event at Latino Service Provider’s annual Winter Celebration held on December 12, 2025. With the Southwest Santa Rosa Extreme project website being live, and the newsletters ready to go, the team was excited to gather with LSP staff, family members, and other Youth Promotores alumni to get our project introduced. The event had an amazing turnaround with almost 100 people coming in and out of the community celebration. Food, music and games table, ornament decoration table were some of the few exciting things ongoing at the event. Our team had the pleasure of getting our own table, where we hosted engagement activities similar to the ones introduced to the youth called “Asset mapping”. The community had a chance to identify resources, and assets that they use during extreme heat events. Community members also had the opportunity to sign up for a newsletter where they could stay updated with our project. Overall, it was a great kickoff for our project!
